Monuments and Memorials
You won't find another city with as many monuments and memorials as D.C. Just walking around the National Mall you can hit up the Washington Monument, WW2 Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Thomas Jefferson Memorial all in a few hours if you wanted to. It’s all super walkable (and scooter-able)!
Museums
Most museums in DC are free! Whether we spent 30 minutes or 3 hours at these places it was nice to see the “fun” category of our budget spreadsheet remain $0.

We visited:
• National Museum of Natural History
• National Archives Museum
• National Portrait Gallery
• National Museum of American History
• The United States Botanic Garden

Living in Arlington
Workers by day, bikers by night... We stayed at an affordable hotel in Rosslyn, Arlington and remotely WFH-ed in a quiet and spacious hotel lobby. There were lots of e-bikes nearby and the ride into the city was only 15 minutes!

Sunsets!
We visited in June, and the sun didn’t set until like 8:30pm! Even after finishing work hours, it still felt like we had plenty of the day left. A nice place to catch the sunset is at the Tidal Basin overlooking the Jefferson Memorial.

$$$ Fun
Although the museums and monuments were free fun, we did spend some $$ on :

The Escape Game - The three of us have done escape rooms in three different cities and I think this one was my favorite! We did the “Art Heist” escape at the Downtown location.
Concert - We saw the bands Lawrence and MisterWives! The show was at the Anthem, an impressive music venue next to the waterfront at the Wharf.
We escaped! with a priceless Monet painting :P

No doubt I'll be back! Whether to see my cousins again, or to spend a long weekend... here’s what’s on my bucketlist for when I return:
   • International Spy Museum
   • National Air and Space Museum
   • National Cherry Blossom Festival in late March - mid April
