Bamboo Forest
A fun and unique activity, and perfect to do with a group! We did the East Palisades trail starting at Whitewater Creek. Our hike was about 3.5 miles round trip, and we got to walk along the Chattahoochee river and through the lively trails until we reached the bamboo forest destination. It was so cool to see a collection of bamboo trees in the United States. I would not have guessed that we were in Atlanta!
Georgia Aquarium
Located in downtown Atlanta, this is apparently the largest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere! It’s filled with massive sharks and flipping dolphins and penguin viewing tunnels. Everything was visually stimulating and entertaining for my inner child, and I think we were all inspired by Kevin’s passion for the vast and unknown underwater world.
Piedmont Park and Beltline
Want to get some walking in? There’s lots of to explore in Piedmont Park including a big lake, bridge, and open fields. At the lower southeast corner of the park you can start the Beltline’s Eastside trail along which you’ll see some art, people playing music, and nice sunset/city views. Also, about 1 mile in you can stop by Ponce City Market for food!

Tips / Things to know:
1. Rent a car if you can! - at least that’s the advice we’ve heard from other visitors as well as our friends who go to school in the city. During our trip we never took public transportation and don’t remember seeing bus or subway options being very prominent.
2. If you’re trying to hit up 3+ museums/attractions, consider getting a CityPass ($89) rather than individual tickets. We were able to see the Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, World of Coca-Cola, Museum of Natural History, and National Center for Civil and Human Rights -- many of them are all in the same area downtown.
